Who is First Step?

First Step is a locally owned and operated company based in the small town of St. Clair, near Port Huron. Started in 1994, the company has since grown to serve Members across Michigan and throughout the United States with quality Internet Access and the most competitive Telephone Services available anywhere.

We are confident that you will enjoy being a First Step Member as we strive to bring you more great services and a friendly, knowledgeable team to assist you along the way.

What happened to MichTel?

The owners of MichTel have decided to focus on the Oakland County Wireless project, yet it was important to them that their valued Members would be well-served by another company.

MichTel chose First Step as the perfect company to continue serving its Members. Like MichTel, First Step is another locally-owned business, based in St. Clair, Michigan. We look forward to serving you for years to come!

How does this change affect me?

BILLING:
MichTel Members last billing by MichTel was on 11/10/06. The first billing run by First Step will be in late November.

You will be billed by the same method as you were by MichTel (Credit Card, ACH, etc.)

All invoices that come directly from First Step should be paid to First Step. If you have any current invoices outstanding from MichTel, please make your payment to First Step.

If you have any questions regarding your account or First Step billing policies, call 1.800.385.9000 option "1".

TECHNICAL:
In most cases, technical issues (dial up numbers, usernames & passwords, etc.) will remain the same. For any changes, we will notify you by email or by phone. If you experience any technical difficulty, call First Step's 24 hour HelpDesk Toll Free 1.800.385.9000.
